Conquest I

The first of the highly modified Bearcats to race at Reno. Used a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 (which was the standard engine in a Bearcat). Had much shorter than stock clipped wings and a very small canopy. Built and flown by Darryl Greenamyer, it was in a constant state of evolvement and is pictured as it last appeared at Reno in 1971. Won the Reno race from 1965 through 1969 and again in 1971. This aircraft is currently on display at the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
